BRISTOL SUBSTITUTION

We're afraid to say that Francois can't make the Bristol gig (Fri 29th, Cube Cinema) anymore, BUT the good news is that The Pictish Trail is now playing in his place. Also on the bill are SJ Esau, The Welcome Committee and us of course.

'BACK FROM ENGLAND' VINYL

DEAR DIARY (Jan Part 1)

Dear Diary,

Pretty pretty good start to the year..or decade if you like! 3 radio plays in a week! We're glowing.

We've got a few people currently working on 'Back From England' remixes which hopefully will emerge soon-ish.

We are looking forward to the new TV show we're gonna make. It's called "Ol' Boozey".
Think 'Last Of The Summer Wine' meets 'Postman Pat' meets 'Keeping Up Appearances' - a sure fire HIT! JH will play the lead role.

Practice sessions are going well. We have constructed a new setlist. SPHINX RETURNS!!

Our vinyl arrived safe! Having it our hands feels rather special.

MH recently made a grimey dusty beat called 'K9' - It's amazing!

We've saved the best news til last. JH spoke to Lard (Marc Riley) the other day and has confirmed a 6 Music live radio session in March! ..Mustn't grumble (sorry we couldn't resist).

3RD OLO RADIO PLAY

You can listen again on the BBC iPlayer (40mins into the show). It's up til next Weds (20th).

Listen to 'Back From England' on the Marc Riley 6 Music show HERE.

OLO WORMS ON RADIO 1!!

Woooooah!! We got played on Radio 1! 6.30am on the Rob Da Bank show. Odd. Only another half an hour and we'd have been on daytime radio..imagine that! Pah ha ha! I Liked the way we got a bit of radio chat over it too...FM RADIO RULES! As you can see from the tracklist we were on the same show as Jay-Z, Hot Chip, Pixies, Julie Andrews & the 'Apocalypse Now' theme. I think u can see the link between us all.

You can listen again on the BBC iPlayer. Check us out on Radio 1 - 1hr 29mins into the show. It's up til Saturday (16th) morning.

REAL OLO RADIO!

ON THE REEEAL RADIO!!!! As you can see from the tracklist below our new single 'Back From England' got played on Marc Riley's 6Music show last night. Check us out rubbing shoulders with Nick Cave & Radiohead..

JH: Bit of a shock! I spat my tea out over the radio when i heard it. I think we are gonna retire now, it's been a long career. I like the way Marc Riley cocks it up when introducing it, it just adds to the phoney drama of the song. On the digital radio they spelt us as 'Hollow Worms' which is nice, it's better than 'Old Worm' which we've had before.

So yeah that means you can listen to our single 'Back From England' IN FULL now if u like? It's up on the BBC iplayer for 7 days.

Listen to 'Back From England' on the Marc Riley 6Music show HERE.
(4th song in)

Hope you like it, if you don't..good news, the rest of our new stuff doesn't sound anything like it.

JAPANESE BLOG

A Japanese blog wrote about us yesterday. Try and read it HERE.

RADIO ?

Did you read that little nugget of info in the last post? Well...we MIGHT be getting some radio play this week..don't hold us to that though.

Looks like BBC Introducing in Bristol will be the first to play a track, on Saturday January 9th (1am-3am). If you’re in Bristol, you can listen live on BBC Bristol (94.9FM/104.6FM) – and everyone else can listen live online, or via the BBC iPlayer.

If you fancy staying up (or getting up early) you’ll also be able to hear a track on Rob Da Bank’s Radio One show on Saturday January 9th (from 5am-7am), and on the BBC iPlayer for 7 days after it’s broadcast.

FENCE TAKEOVER

Fence have announced the January 'OLO Takeover'! Read the full original post with pics and links HERE or just the text below..

Fence:

"Throughout January, the Fence website is going to have its fur ruffled by our Bristolian chums, OLO Worms. Expect lurid colours, warped interviews and some charming R’n'B recipes.

They are releasing their debut single on 7″ vinyl (with download code) this month, y’see. The single features two songs – ‘Back From England’, and ‘The Elastic Waste Band (Lo Fat Cut)’ – and is being released as part of our Secret 7 series. You can read more about the single, and have a goosey at what the cover art looks like here.

The only way to grab hold of one of these beauts is to buy an advance ticket for the forthcoming Fence Winter Tour (dubbed as the ‘Toxic Waist Band Tour‘ by the OLO’s). Copies are limited per show, so be sure and buy your tickets now to avoid unbearable jealousy, and envy fatigue.

But what does the single actually BLOODY WELL sound like? Well, instead of spraying it all over the blog-o-sphere, and zapping it up on MySpace, we’ve given exclusive access to some of our favourite DJ’s and radio shows …

In the meantime, the OLO boys have posted a teaser-advert for the single (which you can see on our Bandstand page). That should whit your appletit."

7" SINGLE ARTWORK

Above is the artwork for our 7" single (click on images to enlarge). Fence Records will be releasing our debut 7″ single in the last week of January. It's a double A side featuring two new songs..

‘Back From England'
'The Elastic Waste Band (Low Fat Cut)’

There will be just 500 copies of the record made. The only way to get one of these 7" singles is to come to one of our gigs in January next year when we enbark on our 'Toxic Waist Band Tour' (more on that below). A copy of the single will be given out to advance ticket holders FOR FREE while stocks last. You can only get a copy of this 7″ if you purchase your tickets through the newly-knitted Fence website HERE.

BUY A TICKET and receive a FREE OLO 7" single HERE!!

Yes, so as we've just mentioned, we are going on a little tour to support the new single. We are calling the the tour 'The Toxic Waist Band Tour'. We'll let Fence Records tell you about the tour (read this full post on the Fence website HERE & HERE)..

Fence:

"We’re donning our scarves, sewing the moth-holes in our long-johns, and embarking on a Fence Winter Tour! We’ve got a cracking line up for ya – with performances from The Three Craws, OLO Worms, FOUND, OnTheFly and more…

Towards the end of January there are very special Fence shows taking place in Edinburgh (22nd), Glasgow (23rd), London (25th), Bournemouth (26th), Bristol (29th) and Reading (30th).

This tour marks the release of OLO Worms debut 7″ single – ‘Back From England / The Elastic Waste Band (Low Fat Cut)’ – a copy of which will be given out to advance ticket holders FOR FREE while stocks last. You can only get a copy of this 7″ if you purchase your tickets through the Fence website.

The OLO’s will be headlining every night of the tour – except for the Edinburgh and London shows, which will be headlined by The 3 Craws (King Creosote, Pictish Trail and James Yorkston). Hailing from Bristol, the OLO boys make some of the most pleasurably bizarre pop sounds we’ve ever heard - trust us, you’ll love ‘em.

The Three Craws (King Creosote, The Pictish Trail and James Yorkston) will be headling two of the shows, in Edinburgh and London. After appearances at Aberdour Festival, and Green Man Festival earlier this year, these forthcoming shows mark The Three Craws first official headline shows – so don’t miss out!

Comprised of King Creosote, The Pictish Trail and James Yorkston, The 3 Craws are as close as Fife is going to get to it’s own süpergroup ... and it’s not even that close. Although, one of these croaking vulcans is a dead ringer for Josh Homme’s dad; another looks like Dave Grohl’s stylist; and one of them is the bastard child of John Paul Gaultier. Expect the widdling faff, and extortionate ticket price of seasoned pro’s ... and none of the timing.

OLO Worms will provide support for the Edinburgh and London shows – and will headline the rest of the tour, with a variety of Fence acts and special guests accompanying them."

Advance tickets for all shows will be available from – YOU GUESSED IT – www.fencerecords.com as of this Monday (7th of December). Here follow the dates…
